SPA Hopping Series: One Massage, One Spa, One Review at a time. First Stop: Masaje De David

On the Road to Gold, I'm discovering that turning 50
isn't just about  celebrating another birthday.
It's also about making time for wellness, self-care, and slowing down.

Join me as I explore spas and wellness destinations,
one massage, one spa , one honest review at a time.

So ayun na nga. Lately,  I've noticed that my cravings are changing. These days, it's no longer just about good coffee, discovering new restaurants or even hitting the gym for workouts and group classes.  Bumalik din ang cravings ko for a good massage, sauna, or simply a quiet place where I can unplug and recharge.

After weeks of relief operations following the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Southern Mindanao on June 8, my body was definitely asking for a break. Between packing relief goods, coordinating distributions, visiting affected communities, and balancing work, I had forgotten what it felt like to simply slow down. Char! Ang totoo, dumating na sa punto na katawan ko na ang nagrereklamo!

So last Sunday, my youngest son and I finally made time for ourselves and decided to unwind at Masaje de David along NLSA Road, Brgy. San Isidro, General Santos City.

The place immediately made a good first impression. The façade is clean, elegant, and sophisticated. Once you step inside, you're welcomed by a dining table setup that gives the place a surprisingly cozy, homey vibe instead of feeling like a typical commercial spa.

We both availed of their Signature Massage with Steam Bath(15 minutes steam bath + 90 minutes massage for P680)

The steam bath was a nice way to start. They gave us disposable underwear (that was added to our tab at P60 each) I sweat buckets! Personally, though, I think it could be elevated by adding a few drops of essential oil or some herbs to create that relaxing spa aroma. If given a choice, I'd probably still pick a traditional sauna room, but it definitely helped prepare my muscles for the massage.

My therapist, Joy, handled my 90-minute massage, and I left feeling much lighter than when I came in.

The room assigned to us was spacious enough for up to three people, making it ideal for friends or families who want to enjoy a spa day together. The restroom was likewise clean, roomy, and well-maintained.

If there's one thing I'd suggest improving siguro, it would be the linens. The towels, neck pillows and blanket specifically. I was hoping for that crisp, freshly laundered, soft-to-the-touch feeling that instantly makes you relax the moment you lie down.  I was also looking for that signature spa scent. Alam mo yun? That subtle lavender, mint, or eucalyptus aroma that instantly tells your brain it's time to relax. It's a small detail, pero it adds so much to the overall experience.

What I appreciated most, though, was the staff. Everyone was warm, polite, and accommodating, making the entire visit okay naman. The son was also happy.

Parang gusto ko uli magpa-massage next week! Awaw! Dami budget, anteh? Once a month siguro. And maybe I should stop feeling guilty about spending a little on myself every once in a while. After all, if we can invest so much time taking care of other people, we should also learn to take care of ourselves.

Now, what if?

What if I make this SPA visits a regular thing and rating each experience? It could be my own little guide to the best wellness spots in General Santos City and beyond.😅 (Another plano!)

For starters, here's our score card for Masaje De David:

💆 Massage Quality: 7/10
👩‍⚕️ Therapist Skill & Service: 7/10
🧖 Ambiance & Relaxation: 7/10
🛏️ Cleanliness: 7/10
🧺 Linens & Comfort: 6/10

Overall, I'd give Masaje de David a good 7 out of 10.

Disclaimer tayo here ha. The ratings above are based solely on my personal experience during my visit. Your experience may differ depending on your therapist, the time of your appointment, and your individual preferences. My goal is not to compare businesses, but to help readers discover wellness spots in Gensan (and beyond?) while sharing honest, constructive feedback.
