General Santos Doctors Hospital celebrated its 46 th  Foundation Anniversary on December 8, 2016, alongside the celebration for the Immaculate Conception of Mary. The year 2016 has been a full of progress for the institution, both in structure and in service. One of the landmarks of the year is the launching of the first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in General Santos City on  June 9 . In the past, patients had to travel to Davao City to undergo MRI scans. Most often these come with a risk due to the stress of the travel and the patient’s condition. With the availability of an MRI machine in the city, health care outcomes for brain injuries are expected to improve immensely. To support the needs of its patients, the hospital partnered with the Medical Express Pharmacy and opened a branch within the Medical Suites Building. SM General Santos is bringing the film which gave the Philippine Team an extended standing ovation at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival to the Generals for a 1-Day screening. The young province of Sarangani is celebrating its 24 th  founding anniversary and the 14 th  MunaTo Festival. This festival commemorates the birth of Sarangani province with the celebration of its People, Culture, and Treasures. A trip back in history: Sarangani Province was born through the efforts of Congressman James L. Chiongbian in 1992, by the passing of Republic Act 7228.  Formerly the area was part of the 3 rd District of South Cotabato. It became a separate province on May 19, 1992. MunaTo Festival is coined from two Blaan words that means “First People”.  The anthropomorphic jars found in the caves of Maitum (Ayub, Pinol, and Sagel), give clues to Mindanao’s early history and of the Philippines as a whole.
